How do Marketplace purchases and selling fees work?

The Marketplace tutorial describes a market in major cities where transactions use Gold and selling incurs a fee. A listing price is therefore not automatically the amount a seller keeps. Inspect the current transaction details before confirming a purchase or listing.

Compare the item, not only its name

Check the exact item, quantity, quality and displayed effects. When comparing stacks, distinguish the price of the whole listing from the price of one item. Confirm that the item meets your intended recipe or equipment requirement.

For Lunastones, read the current effect carefully. The November 7 maintenance fixed incorrect Lunastone effect display in the Marketplace. An old screenshot is not a safe substitute for the corrected live listing.

Check the seller's fee

The extracted Marketplace tutorial is dated October 24. It confirms a selling fee but does not specify a universally current percentage, listing duration or refund policy. Read those terms in the actual selling interface.

Compare the amount you expect to receive with the materials or item you are giving up. Do not set your price by treating the full buyer payment as net income. Check whether the current interface allows the item to be listed before planning a sale around it.

Keep a listing problem separate from storage

A full Bag, a listing restriction and an unexpected item effect are different issues. Record the message and item details if an action fails. Moving items to Storage may help organize inventory, but it does not prove an item is tradable or eliminate a selling fee.

The Marketplace and wagon trade runs are also different activities. Buying an item from another player's listing does not itself complete a delivery to a trading post.
