The Logging Axe is near Rufus. The November 7 maintenance clarified the objective for Hands to Spare; it did not direct players to buy an axe or travel to another region.
Find the quest item
- Return to Rufus and check that Hands to Spare is the objective you are following.
- Look around Rufus for the Logging Axe and use the interaction prompt on the item.
- Read the updated objective after collecting it, then follow the quest’s next instruction.
The announcement gives a nearby location, not a compass direction or map coordinate. Search the immediate area before leaving to find a merchant. A normal weapon called an axe is not evidence that you have collected this quest item.
If the axe will not interact
Install the latest Steam update first. The same maintenance addressed some failures to interact with gathering objects and NPCs. This establishes a published fix, not a guarantee that every interaction problem has disappeared.
If the item still cannot be used, capture the quest title, objective text and the interaction prompt or its absence. Include your server and what happened before the problem in a support ticket. Do not discard unrelated equipment or repeatedly abandon quests as an assumed fix.
