How does Berserker Axe and Shield manage defense and pressure?

Berserker's Axe and Shield combines advancing into a fight with absorbing attacks and answering at close range. Its official introduction gives it tools to pull enemies in, knock them back and keep attacking under reduced damage. That is a description of its kit, not a guarantee that every enemy will remain focused on you.

Use the tools for different problems

Skill Officially described use
Reel In Pull a distant enemy closer with a chain
Shield Slam Knock an enemy back and recover part of the spent SP when the hit lands
Brutal Crash Advance through enemies with stagger while reducing incoming damage
Ridge Shatter Strike nearby enemies to the ground while reducing damage taken
Reckless Destroyer A series of axe attacks that drives enemies back and builds Bleed

Check the consequence before using an action. Pulling a target toward you and knocking it away are different ways to change the fight's position. If your next action needs close contact, watch where the previous hit left the enemy.

Shield Slam recovery is conditional

The profile ties partial SP recovery to landing Shield Slam. It does not say the skill returns all of its cost or that an empty swing replenishes stamina. Inspect your resource after a successful hit and leave room for the next defensive action rather than budgeting around a full refund.

The same caution applies to protected advances. Reduced incoming damage is not invulnerability. Moving into several attacks still changes how much pressure you are taking.

What this means when playing with friends

The class introduction describes a war cry that strengthens the Berserker and protects nearby allies. Positioning near teammates can therefore matter, but the source does not establish a guaranteed taunt loop or a complete tank/healer/damage role requirement for every dungeon.

The October 29 producer letter specifically says the party aggro system needs further work. Coordinate where you are moving the enemies instead of promising that your class alone fixes party targeting. A chain pull or knockback can change the space another player was preparing to attack.

Recheck patched skill effects

That launch letter lists the Berserker's Forceful Lunge among tuning changes. The November 7 maintenance then corrected an effect issue with Reckless Destroyer. These notices do not give a new full damage table. Use current skill descriptions and do not copy an older visual effect as proof of a permanent extra hit or bonus.
